Whether you are here for an hour or a lifetime, we welcome you to RLC!
Pastor Kelly K. Faulstich (she/her) was called to RLC in May 2015, following a long line of passionate and creative pastors. She loves serving in a congregation that has a passion for weekly worship, being connected to the neighborhood, and serving our neighbors in need.
Her call to ministry began as a teenager as she became increasingly involved in her congregation. Through the people in that congregation, God began encouraging and paving a path to ministry for Pastor Kelly as she led worship, organized youth events and participated in service trips and national youth gatherings.
Pastor Kelly attended Valparaiso University in Indiana, where she studied English, education and theology. She spent summers working at Lutheran camps in Colorado and Indiana. Following college, she entered the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC), where she received her Master of Divinity degree and completed an internship at the International Lutheran Church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She completed her Doctor of Ministry degree in preaching from LSTC in 2013. Before coming to RLC, she served congregations in Warren, Ohio and River Forest, Illinois.
Pastor Kelly lives in Villa Park with her husband Justin. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, knitting, going to the movies, and drinking strong coffee or beer (though not at the same time!). She’s always happy to meet you for the beverage of your choice—email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Music Director
Gary Jensen (he/him) has been a beloved and talented part of the RLC community for decades! Retired from Eastern Illinois University, he taught choral and elementary music education, organ, and voice, and directed the Women’s Chorus. He previously taught music at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, and has served churches as organist/choir director in Illinois, and Washington, DC, where he performed regularly with the Washington Opera. He holds degrees from Millikin and Northwestern Universities and did his doctoral studies at the University of Illinois, UC.
Our church council is composed of our pastor and members of the congregation. We meet monthly to tend to the ministry and business matters of our congregation, our church property, and pray for God’s guidance as we “church” in Lakeview.
The Stewardship Team
The Stewardship Team meets quarterly to help God’s people grow in their relationship with Jesus through use of the time, talents and finances God has entrusted to them.
The Youngish Women’s Group
The Youngish Women’s Group (pictured here with some spouses) meets monthly to pray, study, and support one another in faith and life. Meeting at church, in each other’s homes, or via Zoom, they draw inspiration from the ELCA online magazine for young women, http://www.boldcafe.org.
Boomer Belles/Ladies of a Certain Age/Church Ladies
Meeting a few times each year, they support one another, talk about life and the state of the world, exchange book recommendations, conspire to do good in the world, learn new things, and laugh together.
As this pictures shows, there’s always a seat for you at the table of this group of women!
The Men’s Group
The Men’s Group offers connection and community with a friendly group of guys. Inviting all men to join them to share life experiences, tell fish stories, talk about non-existent sports, and discuss scripture, they meet bimonthly via Zoom but look forward to gathering in-person as soon as safely possible.
Recipients for the Alma Mezler Award for Christian Service
Each year, we honor someone in our community with this award named after a saint who served in many ways at RLC and had a gift for inviting others to use their gifts to the glory of God and for the good of the community.
In 2023, we honored Sherman Hicks, pictured in the center.
